Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Construction Journeyman to lead on-site operations for large-scale petroleum and commercial construction projects.
This role is responsible for actively managing day-to-day field operations on major builds, coordinating crews, maintaining production schedules, and ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to code.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will work alongside the crew while directing workflow and maintaining project momentum.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage electrical crews on active construction sites
- Plan and coordinate daily work activities to meet project timelines
- Read and interpret full blueprint and specification packages
- Execute and oversee large-scale electrical installations
- Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and other trades
- Monitor productivity, manpower allocation, and material usage
- Ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and all safety regulations
- Conduct safety meetings and enforce company safety standards
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively
- Prepare work for inspections and ensure quality control standards are met
- Mentor and develop apprentices and journeymen
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Journeyman Electrician certification (Red Seal preferred)
- 5+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience
- Proven experience leading crews on large-scale construction projects
- Strong blueprint reading and project layout skills
- Deep understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
- Willingness to travel or work out of town as required
- Valid Driver’s License
- Legally eligible to work in Canada (we do not offer visa sponsorship at this time)
Preferred Experience
- Experience in oil & gas or petroleum facility construction
- Experience managing projects with electrical scopes of $150K+
- Underground electrical installation experience
- Familiarity with fuel systems, site lighting, and power distribution
