Job Summary
Join Maverick XM as a part-time Food & Liquor Sampling Ambassador, where your enthusiasm and expertise will bring exciting tasting experiences to customers across Nova Scotia! In this dynamic role, you will engage with shoppers in grocery chains and independent retailers on behalf of one of our local partners — offering delicious product samples, sharing insightful information about local food and beverage selections, and creating memorable moments that inspire purchase. Your energetic presence and excellent communication skills will help elevate the shopping experience, foster brand loyalty, and highlight the best of local products. This paid position ($20–$22/hour) offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your marketing, customer service, and public speaking skills in a lively retail environment — with travel time paid and mileage reimbursed.
Duties
- Set up attractive sampling stations in grocery chains and independent retailers that showcase food and liquor products effectively.
- Engage with customers confidently, providing detailed product descriptions and answering questions clearly.
- Conduct engaging product demonstrations to highlight features, flavours, and pairing suggestions.
- Promote new or featured local products through lively interactions that encourage tasting and purchasing.
- Follow all food safety, responsible alcohol service, and hygiene protocols at every event.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of sampling areas to ensure safety and appeal.
- Travel to sampling locations around the province (travel time paid, mileage reimbursed).
- Collect sales data and customer feedback during each sampling event.
- Complete and submit an end-of-day report within 24 hours of each event.
Qualifications
- Must be 19 years of age or older (required for liquor sampling in Nova Scotia).
- Must have a valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel around the province.
- Availability Thursday through Sunday.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while engaging actively with customers.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to speak confidently in public settings; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Food Handlers and/or Serve Right certification are strong assets.
- Previous experience in food service, marketing, or customer-facing roles is highly valued.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to create welcoming environments for diverse shoppers.
- Reliable, energetic, and eager to learn about new products and industry trends.
