Job Overview.
Our team is seeking a reliable and experienced Multi-Axle Lowbed Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport heavy equipment and goods across various on and off-highway routes within the Yukon, British Columbia, Alberta and Alaska. The candidate must have knowledge in operating equipment for unloading and loading purposes and basic knowledge of axel weight requirements, permits (permitting routes) and configurations.
Minimum 4 years experience is required.
Duties
- Safely operate class 1 vehicle combinations for local and long-distance freight delivery, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Knowledge & understanding of the National Safety Code required.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary
- Inspect vehicles daily to ensure proper functioning and report any mechanical issues for maintenance or repair
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation
- Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks such as basic automotive repairs
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure timely loading, unloading, and delivery schedules
- Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents or damage during transit and loading operations
Skills
- Valid commercial driver’s license with a clean driving record (N print driver's abstract required)
- Minimum 4 years experience
- Operate heavy equipment for loading and unloading purposes
- Basic knowledge of permitting routes and axle configurations
- Mechanical knowledge
- Proficiency in forklift operation and handling heavy equipment safely
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting minor vehicle repairs while On the road
- Ability to operate heavy machinery related to freight handling
- Strong organizational skills for managing delivery schedules and documentation
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients
