POSITION SUMMARY
The Commercial EWP and Truss Designer is involved in assisting the Sales and Design Departments with preparing correspondence, layouts, reports, statements, and other material. The Commercial EWP and Truss Designer may also be involved in other duties as required by the department or the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties
- Design, Estimate and perform layout and consultations of floors or roofs for residential, multi family, commercial, and industrial construction.
- Prepare shop drawings for manufacturing and erecting wood building components.
- Provides technical support to customers, production, and sales staff.
- Consults with engineers, building officials and contractors on projects specs.
- Make site visits when required to provide assistance to customers.
- Other job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Training: Provided on the job.
Requirements:
- 2 year experience with excellent understanding of building materials industry.
- Diploma from a recognized architectural, civil or construction engineering program.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Experience with Mitek design software is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic functional math without the aid of a calculator.
- Positive energy and problem-solving approach in all situations.
- Strong attentional to detail.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Mitek systems.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/UNIQUE ASPECTS OF JOB:
- Physical Exertion: Administration staff is required to sit for long periods of time and work with computer programs and data bases.
- Equipment Used: Photocopier, telephone, computer, printer, etc.
Must have own transportation this position is on-site (NO REMOTE WORK) Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, wage based on experience.
