Position: Central Meat Maintenance Technician
Job Overview:
Reporting to the General Manager the Maintenance Technician supports the operational effectiveness of the Central Meat department by conducting routine equipment maintenance, responding to breakdown calls, trouble shooting, analyzing and repairing equipment. The Maintenance technician continuously promotes safety in the work area by understanding and complying with all established safety procedures.
Accountabilities:
Equipment Maintenance and Repair
-
Diagnose and repair malfunctions in various types of production equipment and refrigeration systems.

Install new production equipment and systems when required
-
Relocate and expand existing production systems as required
-
Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring

Wire and connect motors, temperature controls and humidity controls according to the wiring schematics
-
Perform all scheduled preventative maintenance on all production equipment as required

Inspect job upon completion and ensure areas are clean

Detect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection procedures

Repair store equipment such as buggies, food meat bucket etc. as required.

Respond to emergency calls as needed

Liaison with contractors & coordinate their activities onsite

Completing daily/weekly/monthly maintenance check lists
Reporting and Documentation

Create and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all production and refrigeration equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condenser and coils

Create time and materials estimates for installation/move or repair of existing equipment
-
Provide manager with monthly spend on all equipment
Inventory Management

Maintain inventory of company owned tool, equipment and materials

Maintain accurate records on material used
Health and Safety

Promote and endorse Safety vision “Safety is our way of life”

Observe and support Longo’s Safe Work guidelines and other safe work practices

Role models the importance of health and safety by always working safely and call out and address safety issues

Joint Health & Safety Committee Member
-
Recognize risks which may pose a danger to Team Members and resolve such issues (where possible) or modify work, minimizing the risk to Team Member/customer until resolution can be sourced and implemented

Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures

Follow established safety procedure and techniques to perform duties of job, including but not limited to lifting, climbing, etc.

Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
-
3-5 years’ experience in the technical/equipment aspect related to manufacturing or food processing environment
-
High school diploma with completion of an industrial maintenance vocational or technical school program required
-
Specialized skills such as electrical, mechanical and welding etc. is highly recommended
-
Good computer skills, including MS Office
-
Strong technical problems-solving skills
-
Knowledge of WHIMIS, Food Safety and Health & Safety practises

Knowledge of temperature control
