Position Details:
- Position Title: Recreation Therapy Aide
- Position Type: Multiple Positions Available – Permanent and Temporary; Full-time, Part-time, and Casual
- Location: Opportunities available at any of the following Care Centres –Brentwood, Chinook, Kingsland, or Southwood.
- Hours of Work: Day Shifts
- Union Status: Unionized
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in scheduling, preparing and implementing therapeutic programs which support Intercare’s philosophy of meeting the holistic needs of the customers, as directed
- Maintain appropriate records of planned programs and attendance
- Documents care, programs and interactions as required on the resident’s health care record
- Participate in outings and other special events
- Demonstrate respect to all customers, by working with them in a calm, courteous manner
- Maintain appropriate records of planned programs and attendance
- Documents care, programs and interactions as required on the resident’s Health Care Record
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a certificate from a recognized Therapeutic Assistant Program.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a continuing care setting is required.
- Preference will be given to applicants with work experience related to cognitively impaired persons.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
- Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined.
- Demonstrates concern and interest in providing a safe and attractive environment for facility customers, i.e., residents, guests and staff.
- Demonstrates effective communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to function as an effective team member with other staff, residents, families, and the public.
