Mountainview has ongoing operations projects with the potential for long-term work for EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) and AFA (Advanced First Aid, formerly OFA3) medics looking to work in northeastern BC or northwestern Alberta.
Schedule: 12-hour shifts that may include days and nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays on shack, camp, or truck-based locations.

Job Skills/Requirements
Mountainview Safety’s professional field medics are responsible for providing clients with the required level of emergency medical care and medical coverage on remote and/or industrial locations. This includes provision of emergency care for sick and injured personnel on site in addition to the routine care of non-emergency patients. Medics will also be committed to actively participating in and promoting the Occupational Health and Safety programs established by our clients.
Other tasks may include but are not limited to:
- being the sole point of contact for emergency and non-emergency medical situations as they arise and consulting with medical control as required;
- maintaining relevant medical protocols on site, providing first aid response to minor injuries, providing stabilization and pre-hospital care for medevac cases, interacting with medical facility as required;
- maintaining the first aid station/shack/unit, safely storing and replenishing medical supplies as required, setting an example and fostering enthusiasm for Health, Safety, and Environment issues in accordance with the Client’s Safety Management System, helping to establish a proactive approach of enhanced HSE practices;
- professionally representing themselves in a positive and courteous manner while employed by Mountainview;
- medical standby in the field on industrial sites including but not limited to drilling rigs, service rigs, construction, facility, and pipeline jobs;
- daily cleaning, decontaminating, and checks of vehicles completed and documented at the end of each shift;
- site-specific paperwork updated as needed;
- sign all personnel in and out of site and keep accurate records;
- maintain confidential patient medical documentation and reports as per legislation.

Job Requirements
Successful candidates will be experienced providing leading edge emergency medical coverage in extreme and remote environments, with a proven ability to maintain the highest standards of professionalism while demonstrating the flexibility, positive attitude, and professionalism necessary for success in such locations.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience providing remote emergency medical support services in forestry, mining, construction, or oil and gas industry.
- A minimum of 3 years of driving experience in Canada (required by insurance provider).
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team in fast-paced and stressful environments.
- Excellent communication skills, both in writing and in person.
- Proven ability to remain open-minded and objective while successfully managing multiple projects.
- Enthusiasm for enhancing your skill set by undertaking ongoing field level medical training on rotation.

- AFA (formerly OFA 3)
- EMR certification (ACoP and/or EMALB)
- OOJ (Out of Jurisdiction) certification, if necessary
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
- CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
- Class 5 driver’s licence including current driver's abstract, minimum 3 years driving experience in Canada (required by insurance provider)
- PCST (Pipeline Construction Safety Training)
- H2S Alive
- TDG and WHIMIS (provided in-house)
- Must pass a drug screen (please note that some clients have zero-tolerance policy)
