About the Opportunity
We are a growing and progressive metal recycling company committed to safety, environmental responsibility, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. We are seeking an experienced QEHS & Continuous Improvement Manager to lead and strengthen our Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety management systems while driving operational improvements across the organization.
This is a leadership position responsible for developing standardized business systems that improve safety, quality, productivity, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will work closely with department managers to build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management
- Lead and maintain the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage document control and business process documentation.
- Coordinate internal audits and support external audits.
- Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) investigations.
- Monitor quality KPIs and drive continual improvement.
Environment
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and company policies.
- Manage environmental programs, inspections, and reporting.
- Lead initiatives to reduce environmental risk and improve sustainability.
- Support waste management, spill prevention, and regulatory compliance.
Health & Safety
- Lead the company's health and safety management system.
- Coordinate safety meetings, inspections, and workplace audits.
- Oversee incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver employee training programs.
- Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
- Develop KPI dashboards and performance reporting.
- Conduct operational audits to identify improvement opportunities.
- Partner with department managers to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency.
Leadership
- Coach and support leaders throughout the organization.
- Promote cross-functional teamwork.
- Lead special projects assigned by the Vice President of Operations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, or Continuous Improvement leadership.
- Experience working in manufacturing, industrial processing, recycling, heavy industry, or a related environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems and auditing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to lead change and influence teams.
Preferred
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Experience implementing management systems.
- Knowledge of Manitoba workplace safety and environmental regulations.
- Experience developing KPIs, SOPs, and management reporting.
