Journeyman Carpenter (Temporary Project)

Staffmax is seeking 3–4 experienced Journeyman Carpenters for a temporary commercial construction project in Winnipeg.
We are looking for skilled, safety-conscious professionals who can work efficiently with minimal supervision in an active job site environment. This role involves working at heights and operating equipment such as ladders and scissor lifts.
- Perform general commercial carpentry tasks including framing, blocking, backing, hoarding, and formwork
- Complete rough carpentry and layout work according to drawings and site instructions
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials accurately
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
- Maintain productivity while adhering to site safety standards
- Collaborate with supervisors and other trades on-site
- Journeyman Carpenter certification or equivalent commercial carpentry experience
- Strong understanding of commercial construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, layouts, and measurements
- Proven experience in general commercial carpentry
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional attitude and strong communication skills
Candidates must be comfortable and capable of:
- Working at heights of approximately 15–18 feet
- Working safely from ladders and elevated platforms
- Operating scissor lifts (valid certification preferred)
- Using fall protection systems as required
- Following all site-specific safety protocols
Workers must supply their own basic carpentry tools, including:
- Tool belt, tape measure, hammer
- Chalk line, speed/framing square
- Utility knife, levels, pry bar, nail puller
- Screwdrivers, pencils/markers, layout tools
- Cordless drill/impact driver (preferred)
- Standard tools required for commercial carpentry work
Specialized tools will be provided or coordinated by the site supervisor as needed.
All workers must arrive with appropriate PPE:
- CSA-approved hard hat and safety boots
- High-visibility clothing
- Safety glasses and gloves
- Hearing protection (as required)
- Fall protection harness (as required)
- Weather-appropriate workwear
Workers without proper PPE may not be permitted to start work.
- Scissor lift / elevated work platform certification
- Fall protection training
- WHMIS
- First Aid
- Previous site safety orientation experience
All workers must comply with Gardon Construction Ltd.’s safety policies and site requirements.
