Contract IT Infrastructure Technician (Data Center Relocation Project)

Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Technician with supervisory capabilities to support a large-scale server and workstation relocation project. The successful candidate will work alongside our installation team and the client’s technical staff to ensure the safe removal, transportation, and reinstallation of critical IT infrastructure.
The project involves the relocation of approximately:
800+ rack-mounted servers
170 desktop workstations
Client personnel will be responsible for disconnecting all equipment prior to relocation activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support & Oversight
Act as a technical project support resource throughout the relocation.
Provide on-site oversight of equipment handling activities.
Coordinate closely with client representatives and installation crews.
Assist in maintaining project schedules, workflow, and quality standards.
Origin Site Responsibilities
Oversee the safe removal of servers from existing rack infrastructure.
Ensure equipment is properly handled and secured onto transport carts.
Verify that slide rails, mounting hardware, and related components are accounted for and prepared for relocation.
Support quality control procedures during equipment staging and loading.
Destination Site Responsibilities
Oversee the reinstallation of slide rails and mounting hardware within new rack environments.
Ensure servers are returned to the correct rack locations according to client-provided rack layouts and placement instructions.
Support installation teams in maintaining accurate equipment positioning and organization.
Quality Assurance
Verify compliance with client rack elevation drawings and equipment mapping.
Ensure proper handling and protection of IT assets throughout the relocation process.
Monitor installation quality and address issues as they arise.
Maintain clear communication between the client and relocation teams.
Qualifications
Experience working in data centers or enterprise IT environments.
Strong understanding of rack-mounted server hardware and rail systems.
Familiarity with server installation, relocation, and physical infrastructure best practices.
Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment with strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience
Data center migrations or relocations.
Enterprise server deployment projects.
IT infrastructure move, add, and change (MAC) activities.
Asset tracking and rack mapping processes.
