Position Overview:
Reporting to the CEO, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all fleet and equipment maintenance activities, ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of CFT Recycling’s trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and facility assets.
This leadership role manages maintenance operations, supports the maintenance team, develops preventative maintenance strategies, and works closely with operations to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, leadership experience, and a proactive approach to fleet management and continuous improvement.
The pay range for this position is $100,000–$120,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all maintenance operations for company fleets, heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and related assets
- Lead, coach, and manage the maintenance team, including mechanics and support staff
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Plan and prioritize repairs, inspections, and servicing schedules to ensure fleet availability
- Manage daily workflow, maintenance schedules, and emergency repair priorities
- Provide technical guidance and support for complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air brake issues
- Monitor repair quality and ensure work meets company standards and regulatory requirements
- Manage maintenance budgets, parts purchasing, inventory levels, and vendor relationships
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation
- Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, transportation regulations, and industry standards
- Partner with Operations and Fleet teams to improve efficiency and reduce operational disruptions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and equipment optimization
- Support employee development through coaching, training, and performance management
- Promote a safe, organized, and productive maintenance environment
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, heavy equipment repair, or transportation maintenance
- Previous experience managing a maintenance team, shop, or fleet operation
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, air brakes, and heavy equipment systems
- 310T Truck and Coach Technician License is considered a strong asset
- Experience working with heavy trucks, trailers, excavators, loaders, cranes, or recycling equipment is an asset
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and team-building abilities
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and fleet management systems
- Valid driver’s license required
