Job Description
Are you energetic, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment? We are a busy, authentic Thai restaurant looking for a reliable Kitchen Helper / Expo to join our team. Your primary focus will be managing the food pass, packing orders, and ensuring beautiful presentation during our busiest nights.
As the bridge between our Thai culinary team and the front-of-house, you will play a crucial role in making sure every dish looks amazing and every takeout order goes out perfectly. No prior experience with Thai cuisine is required (we will train you!), but it is definitely a plus! If you love a high-energy kitchen and want to learn more about Thai food, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- The Expo Station: Manage the flow of dishes from the kitchen line to the servers, ensuring orders are complete, accurate, and timed correctly.
- Plating Assistance: Help our chefs with final plating, garnishing (think fresh herbs, crushed peanuts, and lime wedges), and making sure dishes meet our presentation standards.
- Takeout & Pickup Management: Accurately package, bag, and label all takeout and delivery orders. Double-check that all modifications (spice levels, protein choices), sauces, and utensils are included.
- Kitchen Support: Assist with light prep work, maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and restocking packaging supplies during downtime.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate clearly and calmly with both our kitchen team and front-of-house staff to keep service running smoothly.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience in a restaurant environment (as an expo, food runner, packer, or kitchen helper) is preferred. Prior experience in a Thai or Asian-concept restaurant is a major plus, but not required!
- Speed & Stamina: Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. You will be on your feet for the duration of your shift.
- Attention to Detail: Sharp focus is required to ensure takeout orders (and specific spice levels) are 100% accurate under pressure.
- Schedule: Strong availability for evening and weekend shifts (our peak busy nights).
- Team Player: Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a cool head during the dinner rush.
Pay: From $17.60 per hour
Work Location: In person
