About the Opportunity
We are currently seeking a compassionate and motivated Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA)/Rehab Assistant to join our team at a Long-Term Care (LTC) facility in Limoges, Ontario. This is an excellent career-building opportunity for individuals interested in growing within the health care industry.
The PTA will work closely with a Registered Physiotherapist and the Director of Care, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Recreation to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out delegated physiotherapy treatment plans and individualized exercise programs for LTC residents.
- Monitor resident performance and promptly report any concerns or “red flags” to the Registered Physiotherapist.
- Accurately document resident progress in the facility’s electronic medical records (EMR).
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Set up, maintain, and clean therapy areas while ensuring equipment safety.
- Follow all Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bilingual in English and French (required).
- Valid CPR Certificate (required).
- Reliable personal vehicle and ability to travel to the work location (required).
- Experience in rehabilitation or a related clinical setting (asset).
- Knowledge of mobility aids and safe body mechanics (asset).
- Background in Kinesiology or a related field (asset, not required).
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Passion for working with older adults in a long-term care environment.
Additional Information
- This is an independent contractor (self-employed) position.
- No employee benefits are provided.
- Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week.
