The Therapy Aide is an unregulated health care provider. Reporting to the Manager of Therapeutic Services, the Therapy Aide is a member of a collaborative team providing Therapy services for residents in an individualized meaningful way. The main accountabilities of the position are providing assistance to the professional Therapy therapists with individual resident and group Therapy treatments and providing social support. The incumbent in the position fosters and maintains effective relationships with care staff, residents and family members and other staff working in the facility.
The incumbent also acts as a role model and ambassador for the Mission and Values of LCC.
Qualifications:
Education: Grade 12 or equivalent and Rehabilitation Aide Certificate from a recognized program.
Experience: Previous experience providing therapy to geriatric and disabled populations, and those with various cognitive impairments who reside within a long term care setting. Consideration may be given to individuals with experience supporting other populations. Experience in leading individual and group situations is essential.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Act as an advocate for resident needs and choices.
- Flexible in accommodating residents’ needs.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of resident, family and staff information.
- Computer skills and knowledge.
- Dementia education is an asset.
- Proficiency in the English Language.
- Demonstrates customer service and resident-centered care.
- Works within the Mission and Values of the Foundation.

Pay: $21.41-$25.05 per hour
