Youth Counsellor
Wage: $70,000 - $90,000 Annual Salary, dependent upon education and experience
Benefits: Paid sick leave, 3 weeks vacation, comprehensive benefits, and 5.5% employer pension match
Hours: Full-Time, with a rotation of one week in the community and one week Prince George (Flexibility required to accommodate member needs, and may include evenings and weekends)

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness, the Youth Counsellor will be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing holistic services to Indigenous Peoples in Kwadacha, BC. The Youth Counsellor is responsible for delivering comprehensive mental health and wellness services to youth and their families, including assessment, intervention, and prevention programming.
- Conduct youth-centered mental health and substance use assessments
- Develop, implement, and monitor care plans that support youth development and resilience
- Provide counselling services for youth, including crisis intervention
- Facilitate workshops, and activities that promote mental wellness, life skills, and harm reduction
- Collaborate with families, community health teams, Elders, schools, and leadership to support youth in a culturally safe and holistic manner
- Support programs that promote youth engagement, mental health awareness, and stigma reduction
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with professional standards
- Participate in case conferencing, team meetings, and ongoing professional development
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging healthy lifestyles and positive decision-making among youth
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, child and youth care, counselling, or a related social sciences field, combined with 2–5 years of recent experience supporting children and youth in mental health, substance use, or community-based settings.
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search, and reference checks
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and clear Driver’s Abstract
