Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Workers to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. This role involves supporting clients in their daily activities at The Mindshift Academy Day Program, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Ideal candidates are empathetic, reliable, and committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve, particularly in assisted living within the community.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities such as cooking, life skills, executive functioning, travel, time management, doctor appointments, haircut appointments
- Administer safety protocols, instructed cooking classes, life skills
- Support members with individuals with disabilities to promote independence
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
- Perform light cleaning and maintain a hygienic environment for clients
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Assist with household tasks including laundry and organizing personal belongings
- Document care provided accurately and communicate effectively with healthcare teams and family members
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of individuals with disabilities is highly desirable
- Strong caregiving skills combined with patience, empathy, and excellent communication abilities
- Ability to perform light cleaning and meal preparation safely and efficiently
- Valid certification or training in caregiving or home health aide is a plus but not required
- Must be reliable, compassionate, and committed to providing respectful support tailored to each individual's needs
