Quality Manager – Pipe, Welding & Spool Fabrication

Contract Duration: 12 months (annual extensions)
Hourly Rate: $50-$90/hr (T4 / INC) - negotiable
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Manager to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities within a pipe and spool fabrication shop. This role is responsible for ensuring fabricated products meet customer specifications, applicable codes and standards, and internal quality requirements while supporting production, welding operations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the quality program for a pipe and spool fabrication facility.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, applicable industry codes, and company quality standards.
- Oversee welding quality, fabrication inspections, and final acceptance of completed spools.
- Review fabrication drawings, welding documentation, inspection reports, and quality records.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and root cause investigations.
- Work closely with production, welding supervisors, project managers, and customers to resolve quality issues.
- Supervise quality inspectors and provide technical guidance when required.
- Monitor quality metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support customer inspections and third-party audits.
Qualifications
- Several years of experience in a Quality Manager, QA/QC Manager, or Senior Quality role within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience with:
- Pipe fabrication
- Welded assemblies
- Spool fabrication
- Shop manufacturing operations
- Solid understanding of welding processes and fabrication best practices.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, welding procedures, and quality documentation.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and inspection processes.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with one or more of the following is considered an asset:
- CSA W47.1 / W59
- ASME Section IX
- ASME B31.1 / B31.3
- CWB requirements
- ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
- Welding inspection certifications (CWB Level 2, CSWIP, or equivalent)
Pay: $50.00-$90.00 per hour
