Position Overview
We are currently seeking a motivated and dependable Apprentice Heat & Frost Insulator to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn, committed to their apprenticeship, and looking to build a rewarding career in the insulation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Journeyperson Insulators with installing mechanical insulation systems
- Measure, cut, fit, and install insulation materials under supervision
- Support insulation of HVAC piping, fittings, valves, and mechanical equipment
- Install vapour barriers, PVC coverings, and metal jacketing as directed
- Load, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and work areas
- Learn to read and interpret mechanical drawings and project specifications
- Participate in apprenticeship training and work toward completing apprenticeship requirements
- Follow all company, site, and union safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment
- Work collaboratively with Journeypersons, supervisors, and other trades
Requirements
- Registered Heat & Frost Insulator Apprentice (1st–4th Year) or eligible to register
- Previous construction or mechanical trade experience is an asset
- Strong interest in developing a long‑term career in the insulation trade
- Reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks professionally and efficiently
- Physically capable of lifting, climbing, and working in construction environments
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout the Greater Victoria Area
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Safety certifications such as CSTS, WHMIS, Fall Protection, First Aid, or EWP are assets
- Willing and eligible to join the applicable union local
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Five 8‑hour shifts
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive union wage package based on apprenticeship level
Apprentice Wage Range: $20.11 – $36.19 per hour (negotiable and based on experience)
