The Saint John Area Cancer Support Program is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-focused individual to join our team as a Program Coordinator, Cancer Support.
Reporting to the Program Manager, Cancer Support, the Program Coordinator plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day delivery, coordination, and administration of programs and services that enhance the lives of individuals and families affected by cancer. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys working with people, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is passionate about creating positive experiences for participants, volunteers, leaders and community partners.

Who you are
You are a highly organized and compassionate individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You are comfortable balancing multiple priorities, coordinating activities and events, and providing exceptional service to participants and community partners.
You have:

Post-secondary education in healthcare, social services, community development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

One to four years of experience in program coordination, community services, event planning, or a related field.

Experience working in healthcare, adult education, research, community support services, or a similar environment an asset.
- Experience in oncology or community-based supportive care considered an asset.

Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and active listening abilities.

The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Canva, and social media platforms.

Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of programs and special events.

Hold a valid drivers license
What you will do
As the Program Coordinator, Cancer Support, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of meaningful programs and services for individuals and families impacted by cancer. You will assist with coordinating daily program operations, including scheduling, registrations, room bookings, participant communication, and maintaining program records. You will help ensure programs run smoothly by supporting evaluations, gathering participant feedback, assisting with quality improvement initiatives, and creating welcoming, safe, and organized spaces for all who access our services.
You will be a key point of contact for participants, visitors, volunteers, and community partners, providing compassionate support and helping individuals connect with appropriate resources. You will assist with the planning and delivery of educational sessions, workshops, guest speakers, outreach activities, and special events that promote connection, learning, and wellbeing. You will provide logistical support for events, coordinate volunteer involvement, and help foster positive experiences for everyone involved.
In this role, you will also support the administrative operations of the Cancer Support Programs by maintaining databases, tracking participation, preparing reports, organizing documents, and assisting with inventory and supply management. You will contribute to program promotion by supporting the creation and distribution of communication materials, website updates, and social media content.
Building strong relationships will be an important part of this role. You will collaborate with healthcare providers, community organizations, volunteers, and other partners to strengthen connections and support a coordinated approach to cancer care. Through your organization, compassion, and attention to detail, you will help create a welcoming environment where individuals affected by cancer feel supported, informed, and connected.
