Support Worker
If the idea of having the opportunity to find a position that focuses not only on the care you provide but also on the development of a positive relationship and a deep understanding of the person you are assisting appeals to you, this may be the position for you.
The rate is $25/hour. This is a self-employed contract position. There are a variety of hours available – from 10 hours a week or more significant hours, such as 40 hours a week. This opportunity is available to several support people who have experience providing PSW-type supports and assisting people with developmental disabilities.
The family is working to build a team of support for their family members on a set, reliable schedule that will have daytime and evening supports. (Daytime hours start at 8 am, but could shift to a 7 am start time and evening will end at 9 pm).
The family is looking for someone who is looking for permanent work and is very reliable. Support people should be compassionate and caring, able to build good relationships with family members.
Skilled with lifts, transfers, and all aspects of personal care. Experience with assisting people with problem-solving and self-regulating. You need to have experience supporting someone who communicates their frustration in ways that can be challenging to support. You will need to bring good energy, engaging with family members during your time there, to participate in activities and finding interesting things to do will be part of your role.
You must be comfortable wearing a mask while you work and have good practices when it comes to creating a safe environment.
The schedule will be set so that the family can count on reliable support. You will need to provide a current Police check with the vulnerable sector, and CPR is an asset.
Experience assisting people with the many different aspects of life: 3 years (preferred)
CPR is an asset (preferred)
PSW Certificate is not required, but have PSW type skills is needed.
Pay: $25.00 per hour
