Summary of the position:
The Sanitation Associate provides support by ensuring industrial ovens, machinery, and production areas are cleaned efficiently and meet strict food safety and hygiene standards. Working in a team environment, this role involves maintaining cleanliness across the plant, following GMP, health and safety, and BRC standards, and assisting with tasks like line cleaning and waste removal. The position requires physical capability, reliability, flexibility with shifts, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. A strong focus on teamwork, adaptability, continuous improvement, and safe work practices is essential.
Your Background:
- Interest in manufacturing, sanitation, or food production environments
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or sanitation role is an asset but not required
- Ability to follow strict food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards
- Strong English communication skills (reading, writing, and verbal)
- Physically capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 27 kg (60 lbs)
- Able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Comfortable working in varying conditions (hot, cold, wet, and dry environments)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance
- Flexible to work shifts (days, afternoons, nights, and weekends as needed)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
- Adaptable, with a willingness to learn and take on new tasks
Responsibilities:
- Assist in cleaning and sanitizing industrial ovens, equipment, machinery, and production areas
- Support the Sanitation Operator and Team Leader in daily sanitation tasks
- Ensure all cleaning is completed efficiently and in accordance with company standards and SOPs
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, utensils, and all plant areas
- Assist with cleaning production and packaging lines as required
- Perform timely waste and garbage removal
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, and health & safety regulations
- Ensure safe and hygienic practices are applied to all tasks
- Report any injuries, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately
- Verify that all equipment and work areas meet cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments
- Contribute to a positive team environment through cooperation and communication
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain high quality standards
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in manufacturing, sanitation, or food production is an asset
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards is an asset
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines
- Physically able to lift, push, and pull up to 27 kg (60 lbs)
- Capable of standing, walking, bending, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, wet, and humid environments
- Ability to work 8–12 hour shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Good communication skills in English (reading, writing, and verbal)
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable with strong attendance
- Basic problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Willingness to learn and follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
