Production Associate
Department: Production
Reports To: Production Lead / Production Supervisor
Location: Back2Raw Manufacturing Facility
Position Summary
The Production Associate is responsible for safely and efficiently producing high-quality raw pet food products while maintaining strict food safety, quality, and sanitation standards. This role supports all areas of production, including batching, packaging, labeling, material handling, cleaning, and general plant operations. Production Associates are expected to work collaboratively with team members while contributing to a safe, productive, and positive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
Perform production duties as assigned throughout the facility.
Package raw pet food products according to established specifications.
Accurately label, seal, box, and palletize finished products.
Assemble product components and prepare products for shipment.
Rotate between production lines and workstations as operational needs require.
Follow daily production schedules and meet established productivity targets.
Assist with batching and ingredient preparation when required.
Operate production equipment safely after receiving appropriate training.
Quality & Food Safety
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, SQF, and company food safety procedures.
Ensure products meet quality specifications before packaging.
Report damaged products, equipment issues, or quality concerns immediately.
Complete production records accurately and legibly.
Maintain product traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
Health & Safety
Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Report hazards, near misses, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Participate in safety meetings and required training.
Sanitation & Housekeeping
Clean equipment and work areas according to sanitation procedures.
Assist with end-of-shift cleaning and sanitation tasks.
Dispose of waste materials in accordance with company procedures.
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
Teamwork
Work cooperatively with supervisors and fellow employees.
Support other departments when operational requirements demand.
Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn new tasks.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
Previous manufacturing or food production experience is preferred but not required.
Experience in food manufacturing or meat processing is considered an asset.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
Stand and walk for extended periods.
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
Push and pull carts, pallets, and production equipment.
Bend, twist, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.
Work in refrigerated and freezer environments.
Perform repetitive tasks using hands and arms.
Wear required PPE for the duration of the shift.
Working Conditions
Refrigerated production environment.
Exposure to raw meat products.
Fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Shift work, overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on production demands.
