Position Summary
Aburi Market Ambleside is seeking a dependable and energetic Kitchen Helper to join our back-of-house team. This role plays a key part in supporting smooth kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness, organization, and readiness across all work areas. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment while contributing positively to team morale.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by kitchen staff
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, storage areas, and equipment
- Support dishwashing operations, ensuring all kitchen tools, dishes, and utensils are properly cleaned and stored
- Help receive, unpack, and organize food deliveries and supplies
- Remove kitchen waste and recyclables and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed
- Restock kitchen supplies such as plates, containers, cutlery, and cleaning materials as needed
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
- Support chefs and cooks with general tasks to ensure efficient service flow during peak periods
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months of kitchen or food service experience required
- Butchery skills considered an asset
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and organization
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25–30 lbs
- Positive attitude with strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
