This position is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the shop, shop equipment, and attendant facilities.
WORK PERFORMED
- Ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and functional for daily operations.
- Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring efficient material storage, inventory organization, and workflow coordination.
- Supervise grips/labourers in the safe and efficient operation of the scene shop, warehouses, and production activities.
- Collaborate on the transportation activities of the shop with the Crewing & Logistics Coordinator and the Director of Operations.
- Manage the safe handling and disposal of shop waste.
- Train and supervise new workers in company operations, industry best practices, and health and safety protocol and procedures in collaboration with the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Recommend work measures to improve productivity and shop efficiencies.
- Keep shop equipment, vehicles, and machinery running smoothly by managing a regular maintenance schedule.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations on facility safety compliance, equipment maintenance planning, and the implementation of strategic production workflows
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate
- Must be able to supervise staff and function well in a collaborative environment
- Knowledge of production and employment standards, practices, and procedures in the entertainment and construction industries
- Knowledge of warehousing practices
- Effective oral and written communication
- Agile decision-making and advanced organizational skills
- Able to work well on a deadline in a fast-changing environment
- Related post-secondary training, and/or equivalent experience
- Competency in project management components, including budget and timeline management, scope management, and risk management
- Proficiency in Google Workplace
- Experience in the field of technical theatre and/or fine and performing art manufacturing management an asset
- Knowledge of building materials and material procurement is an asset
- Professional experience as a Scenic Carpenter, Scenic Painter, Technical Director, Production Manager an asset
- Experience in tool maintenance, repair, and shop operations an asset
Pay: $30.00-$36.00 per hour
