About the Role
Rubber Surfaces International is hiring Rubber Surfacing Crew Members for our Edmonton-area installation team.
This is a hands-on outdoor construction role. Our crews install high-quality poured-in-place rubber surfacing for residential, commercial, playground, pool deck, garage, patio, and similar projects.
Each workday typically starts at our shop location. Crew members arrive at the shop, help prepare the truck, trailer, tools, equipment, and materials, then travel together with the crew to the job site. The foreman is typically the driver and leads the project on site.
Because rubber surfacing work is weather dependent, our crews need to make the most of good weather days. This means candidates should expect to work on any suitable “nice day,” and some days may run later than usual when needed to complete a project properly that same day.
At the end of each day, the crew returns to the shop and is expected to complete a full and proper cleanup of tools, equipment, truck, trailer, and related materials so everything is clean, organized, and ready for the next workday.
We are looking for reliable crew members who either have related industry experience or are motivated, coachable, and able to learn quickly. Strong candidates may have the opportunity to grow into more responsibility as they gain experience and prove themselves on the job.
What You’ll Do
As a Rubber Surfacing Crew Member, you will assist with all parts of the installation process, including:
- Loading and preparing tools, equipment, materials, and trailers at the shop each morning
- Travelling with the crew to job sites throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas
- Preparing job sites for rubber surfacing installation
- Mixing, placing, troweling, and finishing rubber surfacing material
- Helping maintain our finishing standards and product quality
- Working efficiently to complete projects properly within weather and project timing requirements
- Returning to the shop with the crew at the end of the day
- Cleaning tools, mixers, equipment, truck, trailer, and related materials after each workday
- Keeping the shop, trailer, and work areas clean, organized, and ready for the next job
- Assisting the foreman with product usage, timing, setup, cleanup, and site organization
- Interacting professionally with customers when needed
- Following all safety procedures and company expectations
- Learning the rubber surfacing process through on-the-job training
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for crew members who are dependable, hard-working, and take pride in high-quality workmanship.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Reliable transportation to get to the shop each day
- A strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Availability and flexibility to work on suitable weather days
- The ability to work longer days when needed to complete a project properly
- The ability to perform physical labour and work on your feet for extended periods
- Good attention to detail, especially during finishing work and equipment cleanup
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- The ability to work well as part of a small crew
- Good communication skills with coworkers, foremen, and customers
- A sober, drug-free approach to workdays
- Respect for tools, equipment, job sites, customer property, and company vehicles
Experience That Is an Asset
Previous rubber surfacing experience is not required, but the following experience is a strong asset:
- Concrete placement or concrete finishing
- Troweling or hand-finishing work
- Landscaping
- Construction labour
- Epoxy, coatings, flooring, paving, or similar trades
- Trailer loading, equipment handling, or job-site setup
- Working as part of a small installation crew
Rubber surfacing uses some techniques similar to concrete finishing, so candidates with concrete experience may adapt quickly.
Pay and Growth
Entry-level candidates typically start at $22.00/hour while learning the trade.
Pay can increase quickly for crew members who show reliability, skill development, efficiency, care for equipment, strong attendance, and the ability to produce high-quality finished work.
Trained, experienced, and proven foremen may earn $27.00/hour+.
