We are searching for Underground Bolters to join us at multiple project sites across Ontario. At Shafts and Tunnels, the Underground Bolter supports underground mining projects by installing ground support systems safely and in accordance with project drawings, ground control requirements, client standards, and site procedures. This role is critical to maintaining safe underground work areas and supporting ongoing project advancement.
This opportunity may include both day and night shift rotations across multiple Ontario project sites. The successful candidate will bring hands-on bolting experience, a strong understanding of underground ground control practices, and a safety-focused approach to all work.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate bolting equipment and install ground support systems including rock bolts, resin/grout bolts, plates, mesh, screen, straps, and other support materials as required.
- Complete bolting activities in accordance with engineered drawings, ground control plans, project specifications, and client/site requirements.
- Inspect work areas, identify ground condition concerns, perform scaling where qualified, and report hazards immediately.
- Assist with drilling, layout, measuring, material staging, shotcrete prep/support, and related underground construction tasks as required.
- Complete pre-operational inspections of bolting equipment and supporting tools, and report defects or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Conduct routine minor maintenance and housekeeping on equipment within role expectations and qualifications.
- Work closely with supervisors, miners, equipment operators, engineers, and client representatives to complete ground support work safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while managing ground support materials underground.
- Complete required inspection records, equipment logs, and project documentation accurately and on time.
- Other duties as required to meet project and/or business needs.
Required Experience, Training & Certifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of underground bolting or ground support installation experience.
- Underground Common Core for Soft Rock and Hard Rock environments.
- Valid WHMIS and Working at Heights certifications.
- Experience installing ground support systems and operating underground bolting equipment.
- Ability to read and follow ground support plans, project drawings, and site-specific work instructions.
- Ability to work day and night shift rotations at various project sites throughout Ontario.
- Strong safety awareness, communication skills, and ability to work effectively within an underground crew.
Pay: $80.00-$90.00 per hour
