Role Purpose
The Food Bank of York Region is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to lead the "School Food Pantry Expansion" initiative. The primary goal is to scale our current network of 13 school-based pantries to 52 across York Region within a three-year timeline, ensuring reliable food access for students and their families.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Expansion & Strategy
- Lead the strategic scale-up from 13 to 52 school food pantries over the contract period.
- Collaborate with the Peterborough Child and Family Centre to implement and refine the project model.
- Identify and onboard new school sites, assessing their capacity and local needs.
2. Logistics & Supply Chain Management
- Inventory & Sourcing: Manage the acceptance, storage, and delivery of products from Breakfast Clubs of Canada and other donors.
- Purchasing: Redeem vouchers from the Grocery Foundation to procure fresh produce and essential items.
- Scheduling: Coordinate and oversee delivery schedules to all participating school sites.
- Driver Log: Keep records of kilometers driven.
- Logistics: Collaborate with FBYR’s Logistics manager to ensure the most economical routes are established
3. School & Volunteer Engagement
- Connect with and support Volunteer Leads at each school site.
- Travel to schools across York Region as necessary to provide on-site support and oversight.
4. Data, Reporting & Documentation
- Link2Feed Management: Ensure all distribution data is accurately entered into the Link2Feed software.
- Documentation: Maintain a project journal and write regular progress reports for leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education/Experience: Proven experience in project management or community program coordination.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Link2Feed or similar data management systems. Will train if necessary.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to manage relationships with schools and community partners.
- Travel: A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required for travel between school sites.
Employment Details
- Schedule: 21 hours per week (flexible scheduling may be required based on school delivery needs).
- Benefits: Eligibility for Group Benefits package.
- Duration: This is a three-year contract tied to the project’s expansion goals.
Pay: $28,000.00-$32,500.00 per year
