Nurturing Behaviours Inc. is a multidisciplinary pediatric therapy centre dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based services to children and youth with a variety of developmental, behavioural, and physical needs. Our team includes Behaviour Analysts, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Instructor Therapists working collaboratively to help children reach their fullest potential.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our growing Occupational Therapy department. This position is initially part-time, with significant opportunity to expand into a full-time role as our OT services continue to grow.
About the Role
Working under the supervision and direction of our Registered Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Assistant will implement treatment plans, facilitate therapeutic activities, prepare materials, document session information, and support children in developing skills related to:
- Fine motor development
- Gross motor development
- Self-care and daily living skills
- Sensory processing and regulation
- Visual motor and visual perceptual skills
- Handwriting readiness
- Emotional regulation
- Play and social participation
Services are provided within our London and Woodstock centres and may occasionally include community-based programming.
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Deliver engaging one-on-one therapy sessions.
- Assist with small group programs as needed
- Prepare therapy materials and maintain organized treatment spaces.
- Document session notes and collect objective treatment data.
- Collaborate with the Occupational Therapist regarding client progress.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming therapy environment.
- Assist with equipment set-up, sanitization, and inventory.
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development.
- Work collaboratively with Behaviour Analysts, Speech-Language Pathologists, Social Workers, and other team members to provide coordinated care.
- Support families by modelling strategies as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
Qualifications
Required:
- Diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) program.
- Experience working with children is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while following clinical direction.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between our London and Woodstock locations.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, developmental disabilities, sensory processing differences, or other exceptionalities.
- Experience implementing sensory-based interventions.
- Familiarity with pediatric therapy settings.
- Passion for family-centred care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
