Digital Architect

Remote/Canada

Long-term Contract

Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional agile product teams, providing architectural direction, and mentoring developers and technical leads.

Experience as a software architect, leading the design and delivery of enterprise-scale solutions using modern development stacks in complex organizational environments.

Experience working with teams that also apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches.

Proven ability to define and communicate solution architecture for large-scale systems, including integrations, modernization strategies, and cloud-native design patterns.

Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.

Experience applying secure development practices and managing identity and access using role-based or attribute-based access control and Zero Trust Architecture principle.

Experience designing and implementing modern web applications, including responsive, accessible front-end development using modern UI frameworks

Experience designing and managing APIs, including RESTful services and system integrations

Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, deployment, and observability.

Experience incrementally transforming existing legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases.

Experience with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code practices for cloud or hybrid environments

Experience with distributed systems design, including event-driven architecture, microservices, and domain-driven design.

Experience with the Government of Alberta's Information Technology/Information Management policies, standards and guidelines.

Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases, including schema design and performance optimization.

Experience working within public sector digital service frameworks or enterprise architecture standards.

Experience Work with Identity Access Management in a complex organization.

Experience working with other architects and/or as part of cross-functional teams to identify efficiencies through common services, reusable components and application programming interfaces (APIs), and contribute to the overall architecture practice designing and implementing application programming interfaces (APIs) and system integrations.
