ABOUT THE POSITION
Wildhorse is looking for experienced Prep Cooks to fill out their team on a full-time seasonal contract for 3 weeks from June 26th - July 16th. This role is primarily focused on high-volume food preparation in a fast-paced event environment, supporting our culinary team in delivering consistent, high-quality menu items during the Calgary Stampede. This position is ideal for candidates with at least 1 year of kitchen or prep experience who are confident working with ingredients, executing prep lists, and maintaining strong food safety standards. You should be comfortable working efficiently both independently and as part of a team and thrive in a high-volume service environment.

- Hourly Wage: $22.00 - $25.00 depending on experience

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Execute daily prep lists including chopping, portioning, marinating, and assembling ingredients.
- Ensure consistency and quality in all prepared food items
- Organize and stock prep stations to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Support chefs and line cooks with high-volume food production.
- Maintain ongoing communication with all departments affecting the kitchen.
- Ensure consistent and high-caliber food preparation.
- Ensure the highest level of hygiene and food safety is adhered to according to the restaurant’s standards.
- Ensure that the kitchen area and equipment is always maintained at the highest level of cleanliness.
- Consistently conduct yourself in a professional and positive manner.
- Aid in maintaining department objectives and ensure they are met and exceeded.
- Strive to advance your knowledge and help raise standards within department by bringing new concepts, ideas, and suggestions forth.
- Perform other related ad-hoc duties as required.
- Communicate in a friendly manner with all staff.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- Minimum 1 year of kitchen or prep cook experience required.
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with basic food preparation techniques.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, control, and composure in difficult and stressful situations.
- Ability to fluently communicate in both written and verbal English.
- Valid Alberta Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be over 18 as open scheduling availability is a requirement.
