Role Overview
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for growing Laylan Hydronics & HVAC Sales' presence across a defined territory in Southwestern Ontario. This role focuses on building and nurturing relationships with mechanical and HVAC contractors, consulting engineers, and existing wholesale distribution partners. The successful contractor will act as a trusted technical resource and business partner — identifying new sales opportunities, supporting existing accounts, and driving measurable revenue growth across all Laylan product lines. Primary Responsibilities
Contractor & Engineering Relationships
- Identify, target, and develop relationships with mechanical contractors and HVAC installers across the territory, focusing on new business development and account retention.
- Engage with consulting engineers and engineering firms to promote product specifications and secure product approvals on commercial and residential projects.
- Serve as a knowledgeable technical resource for contractors and engineers — providing product guidance, system design support, and application assistance.
- Conduct regular field visits, job site calls, and lunch-and-learn sessions to build awareness and preference for Laylan product lines.
Wholesale Account Management
- Nurture and grow existing wholesale distribution relationships across the territory, maintaining regular contact from counter staff through to branch management.
- Support wholesale branch partners with product training, promotional materials, product samples, and point-of-sale resources.
- Participate in counter days, trade shows, and branch events in coordination with the Laylan Agency owner.
- Monitor wholesale sell-through and identify opportunities to increase branch stocking levels and product mix.
Sales Growth & Territory Development
- Proactively prospect new contractor, engineering, and wholesale accounts to expand Laylan's footprint within the territory.
- Set and pursue territory sales objectives in coordination with the Laylan Agency owner, with accountability for achieving agreed revenue targets.
- Report on market trends, competitive activity, supply chain developments, and new product opportunities relevant to the territory.
- Provide feedback and recommendations on new products, services, and market conditions to inform Laylan's go-to-market strategy.
- Distribute product literature, specifications, and promotional materials to contractor, engineering, and wholesale contacts.
What We Are Looking For
- Comfortable in outside sales, preferably within the HVAC, hydronic heating, or mechanical construction industry.
- Building relationships with mechanical contractors, HVAC installers, or consulting engineers in the Southwestern Ontario market is a strong asset.
- Preliminary understanding of hydronic heating systems, radiant systems, or HVAC products — or the technical aptitude and commitment to develop this knowledge quickly.
- A self-starter with strong territory management skills, able to plan and execute a structured call cycle independently.
- Professional communication skills with the ability to present confidently to contractors, engineers, and branch-level wholesale contacts.
- Comfortable working independently as an independent contractor, managing your own schedule and activity to achieve agreed revenue targets.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
