Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Pipe Layer to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing underground piping systems efficiently and accurately, ensuring all work meets safety standards and project specifications. Duties
- Excavate trenches using equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and bucket trucks to prepare for pipe installation.
- Lay, align, and connect pipes according to engineering plans and safety guidelines.
- Operate heavy machinery including rigging setups, low voltage electrical tools, and welding equipment to secure piping systems.
- Use hand tools and power tools to cut, weld, and assemble piping components with precision.
- Perform routine inspections of installed pipes for leaks or defects, making adjustments as needed.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while working around heavy equipment and electrical systems.
- Assist with site preparation, including trench shoring, backfilling, and compaction to ensure stability of the piping infrastructure.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation and pipe installation techniques.
- Proficiency in operating excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other heavy machinery safely and effectively.
- Electrical experience is a plus for understanding low voltage wiring involved in utility piping projects.
- Skilled in using hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, and pipe cutters; as well as power tools like drills and grinders.
- Experience with rigging procedures for lifting large pipes or equipment securely into position.
- Ability to perform welding tasks for joining pipe sections or repairing systems when necessary.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation, electrical work, welding, and trenching.
