Job Summary
The Youth Worker plays a vital role in supporting and mentoring children and young adults, particularly those with high behaviours . This position involves creating a safe and engaging environment where youth can thrive, learn, and develop essential life skills. The Youth Worker will collaborate with families, educators, and community organizations to promote positive youth development and foster inclusivity.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care, supervision and guidance to children and youth in a residential facility.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages personal growth and development.
- Implement and follow established care plans for each child/youth, addressing their unique needs and goals.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure a comprehensive approach to child/youth care.
- Facilitate and participate in recreational activities, educational programs, and therapeutic interventions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of resident progress and incidents.
- Respond effectively to crisis or challenging behaviors, implementing de-escalation techniques as needed.
Skills
- Proven experience in teaching or mentoring children in a structured environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with children, families, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the lives of young people.
