Overview
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the direct management and handling of all warehousing and distribution functions at the Belleville Distribution Centre facility. This includes accountability for inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. The Warehouse Supervisor will accomplish effective logistical oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills.
We are looking for to fill the following positions:
- 1 Day shift Inbound Supervisor - Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 3pm
- 1 Afternoon shift Outbound Supervisor - Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 1:30am
Responsibilities
- Supervise unionized floor staff to ensure effective use of human resource
- Develop manpower schedules based on anticipated inbound and outbound workflow
- Co-ordinates the storage of product making the most efficient use of warehouse floor space using SAP driven configuration
- Work with other departments as necessary to ensure customer needs are identified and procedures documented for Distribution Centre staff
- Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory values
- Handles the follow-up and resolution of claims or shortages, damaged goods and over-billings according to approved company procedures
- Verify and approve time sheets for each employee, and do the holiday scheduling
- Provides coverage for other warehouse supervisors during holidays/vacations/leaves/other absences as required
- Train & monitor staff in safe work practices, including new employee onboarding
- Communicate with other supervisors and managers as required
- Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior
- Familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations
- Health & Safety compliance in accordance with company policies
- Monitor Distribution Centre performance against service standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to read, interpret, and carry out written and oral instructions in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Exceptional working knowledge of SAP
- Ability to handle escalated consumer situations
- Managerial/Supervisory/Leadership Skills: Prior experience in leading/coaching floor staff. Maintain good working relationships with staff, managers and peers.
- Ability to Adapt: Able to quickly change priorities and focus based upon the business demands.
- Self-confidence and excellent Communication skills: Able to communicate effectively (both oral and written) with multiple team members and other department leaders and workers in the organization.
- Attention to detail with outstanding follow-through and time management skills: Able to work under pressure and to multi-task to complete all duties on time and completely with sometimes conflicting priorities. Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.
Education & Experience:
- College diploma and/or University degree. Equivalent combination of post-secondary education and directly related experience can be considered. Specializing in business or supply chain management is an asset.
- At least five (5) years of warehouse/logistics/distribution experience.
- Passion for sports or previous experience working or playing in a team environment also preferred.
- Previous experience managing people in a unionized workforce environment
Pay: $72,000.00-$74,000.00 per year
