Early Childhood Educator (Regular Part Time- 32.5 hours/week)

Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH) is located on the unceded, occupied, ancestral and traditional homelands of the xʷməθkwəyə m (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Səlílw ətaʔ/Selilwitulh (TsleilWaututh) Nations. Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House is looking for experienced, passionate, and values-based Early Childhood Educator to join our 3-5 room team. Using a collaborative approach, the Childcare Director, the Early Years Coordinator and the team of Early Childhood Educators will co-create a new early years centre with 69 spaces located on the rooftop of Eric Hamber Secondary School. The centre opened on April 1st 2025.
MPNH is a member of the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of BC (ANHBC). ANHBC Childcare Programs are inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia Approach. About You
You are passionate, creative and have an eagerness to work as part of a collaborative, supportive and dynamic team in a non-profit and volunteer-based organization. You are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and the BC Early Learning Framework. You are knowledgeable of evolving philosophies and pedagogies in early childhood care and education, including risky play, decolonizing early childhood spaces and are up to date with current trends, policy and changing perspectives on work with young children.
You are passionate about creating inclusive early learning spaces, believe children learn best through play and enjoy being outside with children in all weather, gardening and exploring the community. You have a desire to help co-create an exciting new centre that will be inspiring, nurturing, and innovative.
About the Position
Under the general guidance of the Early Years Coordinator and Leads, the Early Childhood Educator will provide responsive, caring and high quality programming inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework in the 3-5 rooms. Educators nurture strong relationships with the children, families and colleagues, and implement high standards of care and supervision that promote the wellbeing of all children.
Skills and Qualifications
- Valid BC Basic Early Childhood Education Certificate
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in licensed childcare.
- Solid knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and the Reggio Emilia Approach.
- Experience with curriculum making and pedagogical documentation.
- Understanding and commitment to inclusive spaces.
- Strong planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent and proficient oral and written communication.
- Passion and commitment for ongoing professional development and growth
- Creativity, critical thinking, flexibility and sense of humour.
Terms
- Regular part-time position -32.5 hours per week.
- Rotating shifts between 7:15am to 5:45pm Monday to Friday. 5.5 hours direct service, 1 hour unpaid break.
- Compensation: Band C2 22.77- $23.57 per hour based on experience level and qualifications, plus $6 Wage Enhancement.

- This position works in person at MPNH Childcare at Eric Hamber Secondary.
- This position works some evenings and weekends.
