Qualifications:
Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in a specialty appropriate for the class of employment, a Secondary School Diploma or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority and have two (2) years of pertinent experience.
DEC - Automobile Mechanics - an asset
Laboratory Attendant (17.5 hours per week)
Storekeeper Class I (17.5 hours per week)
Nature of the work for Laboratory Attendant:
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in assisting teachers, technical staff and students by preparing and placing at their disposal the materials required for conducting experiments and activities in keeping with the subjects taught as well as the social, cultural or sports activities and audiovisual productions.
Nature of the work for Storekeeper Class I:
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in being responsible for a store or warehouse and in performing various tasks related to its operation.
If necessary, the employee must, in addition, perform the characteristic functions of the class of employment of class II storekeeper.
Characteristic functions:
The employee in this class of employment performs the duties of preparing, measuring, labeling, identifying, classifying, cleaning, washing and maintaining materials, tools and equipment and monitors dangerous substances; he or she assembles and disassembles apparatus and instruments and ensures their safe storage; repairs and calibrates instruments; keeps an inventory of materials and products; prepares purchase orders and, upon receipt of material, ensures that it conforms to specifications.
Other Requirements:
Bilingual in English and French.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and build collaborative relationships with adult learners, educators, and colleagues.
Passion for the field of automotive mechanics and a commitment to sharing knowledge and experience with students pursuing careers in the trade.
Experience working in an automotive shop environment, preferably with students.
Knowledge of the automotive industry, including automotive parts, specialized tools and equipment, and ordering and receiving procedures.
Ability to move, maintain, and repair machinery, tools, and heavy equipment.
Ability to assess and implement maintenance schedules for equipment and workspaces.
Comfortable using computerized inventory systems, including Microsoft Excel.
Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety practices related to the automotive industry.
Ability to safely lift and handle medium to heavy loads.
Willingness to pursue additional training related to technology and mechanical equipment.
Availability to work evenings.
Experience operating forklifts and other machinery is an asset.
