Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable and experienced Pen Checker to join our team. This is a hands on role requiring solid cattle knowledge, good judgment, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Check cattle daily for health, injury, and overall condition
- Identify, pull, treat and report sick or injured animals
- Monitor feed and water systems to ensure proper operation
- Assist with processing, shipping, and receiving cattle
- Operate and maintain yard equipment and machinery
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization within assigned areas
- Assist with yard maintenance, including fencing
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of cattle health and behaviour
- Ability to recognize early signs of illness or distress
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, farm equipment, and power tools safely and effectively
- Comfortable working outdoors year round
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Team Player
- Valid Driver's License
- Fluent in English
- Computer Knowledge
- Must be able to legally work in Canada
