Class 1 Driver
Polar Bear Ice has been one of Western Canada’s leading ice manufacturers for over 30 years. With the recent expansion of our new production facility in Surrey, BC, we are currently hiring multiple full-time and seasonal team members to support our growing operations.
We are seeking reliable, hardworking, and motivated individuals to join our transportation and production team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable experience in logistics, production, customer service, and operations management within a fast-paced environment. Training will be provided to the right candidates, and there are opportunities for advancement, as well as exposure to sales and marketing during slower production periods.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles, assisting with ice production, completing deliveries, and supporting daily warehouse operations. The ideal applicant values safety, efficiency, professionalism, and teamwork while maintaining high standards of customer service.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 or Class 3 commercial vehicles for local deliveries
- Transport ice products and equipment efficiently while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight, products, and pallets safely and securely
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment as required
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle records, and related documentation
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor equipment or vehicle maintenance when necessary
- Coordinate with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure timely deliveries
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, trucks, and work areas
- Provide professional and courteous customer service
- Assist with additional warehouse and general labour duties as required
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License required
- Clean driving record
- Experience operating 3-ton or 5-ton trucks preferred
- Forklift experience is considered an asset
- Previous experience in commercial driving, freight transportation, warehouse operations, or a related field is preferred but not required
- Ability to repeatedly lift 30 lb bags throughout the day
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and transportation regulations
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor troubleshooting or repairs is an asset
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Flexible schedule and willingness to work additional hours during peak periods
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
