Crosslinx Transit Solutions Maintenance (CTSM) is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Supervisor to join our 24/7 Maintenance team on the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Line (ECLRT) in Toronto, Ontario. This is a long-term career opportunity in a growing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and performance of Electrical Maintenance Technician (EMT) teams across the ECLRT corridor, ensuring the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of all facility electrical systems. A critical accountability of this role is the direct oversight of Power Isolation activities for maintenance works at stations and in or near the 750 V DC Overhead Line (OHL) in guideways, in strict accordance with CSA Z462 and CTSM safe work standards.
Schedule: Night shift is the primary schedule, with rotating evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays as required.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise, schedule, and deploy EMT staff across assigned shifts and work zones throughout the ECLRT corridor
- Conduct daily pre-shift briefings; communicate work priorities, active isolations, electrical hazards, and safety-critical information
- Monitor individual and team performance; provide coaching, corrective direction, and documentation of performance concerns in accordance with CTSM HR policy and the applicable Collective Agreement
- Administer first-level progressive discipline in coordination with HR and the Senior Supervisor
- Identify training and qualification needs; coordinate with HR and Training to ensure technicians maintain required certifications, including electrical safety and CSA Z462 compliance training
- Act as the shift-level representative for OHSA supervisor obligations; ensure all team members comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS regulations, and CTSM policies at all times
- Oversee the execution of preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities for ECLRT electrical systems, including power distribution up to 600 V AC, UPS systems, VFDs, control panels, HVAC electrical systems, and Utility Plant equipment
- Authorize, coordinate, and supervise Power Isolations for safe maintenance work on electrical equipment at stations and in or near the 750 V DC OHL in guideways, in full compliance with CSA Z462 and CTSM LOTO procedures
- Review and assign electrical work orders through the CMMS; monitor completion, quality, and compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards
- Respond to and manage escalated Help Desk service events and emergency electrical calls; coordinate technical resources and communicate status to senior management and operational stakeholders
- Ensure facility electrical systems are maintained to applicable standards including the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, OHSA, and Ministry of Environment Regulations
- Verify that work performed in customer-facing and revenue-service spaces minimizes disruption to LRT operations
- Enforce CTSM's Electrical Safe Work Practices and the requirements of CSA Z462 across all field activities
- Ensure all Power Isolation permits, risk assessments, and associated safety paperwork are correctly completed, signed, and submitted prior to commencement of any electrical work
- Conduct pre-job hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and electrical safety observations; document findings and corrective actions
- Ensure the availability and correct use of appropriate PPE for electrical hazards (arc flash, shock) and all required test and measurement instruments
- Oversee the safe storage, handling, use, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with WHMIS and applicable legislation
- Investigate electrical incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns at the first level; escalate findings and complete documentation per CTSM procedures
- Maintain ongoing communication with TTC or YCC to coordinate work activities, report progress, and manage incident response
- Monitor quality, scope compliance, and pricing of work performed by outside contractors and service vendors
- Verify accuracy of material and service deliveries; review and approve purchase order requests within delegated authority
- Support procurement processes by identifying supply needs and recommending preferred sources for stock materials
- Maintain accurate shift logs, work order records, and operational reports within the CMMS and other CTSM systems
- Prepare and submit regular operational summaries to the TPSS Manager
- Track and manage tool and equipment inventories; ensure calibration and serviceability of instruments
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical maintenance, building electrical systems, or a related trade, with at least 3 years in a supervisory, Team Lead, or Site Supervisor capacity.
- Valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A or 442A) is required. Additional qualifications in Fire Suppression, HVAC, or Building Operations are an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems (up to 600 V AC), UPS systems, VFDs, control panels, and Utility Plant electrical operations.
- In-depth knowledge of CSA Z462 (Workplace Electrical Safety) and demonstrated experience administering Power Isolation / LOTO programs in a live electrical environment.
- Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and Ministry of Environment Regulations.
- Demonstrated supervisory competence: shift scheduling, performance management, first-level discipline, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgement skills; ability to assess complex electrical and personnel situations and take decisive, appropriate action under time pressure.
- Proficiency with CMMS software for work order management, isolation tracking, and reporting; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear operational and safety reports and communicate effectively with technical staff, contractors, TTC/YCC representatives, and management.
- Valid non-probationary Class “G” Province of Ontario Driver’s Licence in good standing.
- Completion of supervisory health and safety training (Working at Heights, WHMIS, Supervisor Safety Certification, Arc Flash Awareness) is required or must be completed within 90 days of appointment.
Who we are?
Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) is a P3 consortium comprised of EllisDon, SNC-Lavalin, Aecon and ACS - Dragados. CTS has been selected by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the ECLRT Project. CTSM is part of this joint venture and will provide Maintenance and Rehabilitation Services for System Assets of the 19-kilometre ECLRT for a 30-year contract term.
