Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic to join our maintenance team on an 11-hour, 4-day work week schedule. This is a hands-on technical position requiring versatility to perform maintenance and repairs across our diverse fleet of equipment. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively to ensure our vehicles and equipment operate safely and efficiently.
Our diverse fleet includes heavy-duty waste collection vehicles (front load, side load, and roll-off garbage trucks), specialized equipment (septic trucks, hook lifts, 4500/5500 trucks), Class 1 tractor trailers (walking floor and tanker configurations), and light-duty support vehicles.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment across our diverse fleet.
- Diagnose faults and malfunctions using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems.
- Monitor the safety and efficiency of equipment and identify potential issues.
- Maintain paperwork and complete documentation.
- Coordinate with Parts Coordinator to order parts and supplies as needed.
- Schedule additional maintenance as required.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman (Red Seal) Automotive Service Technician is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with waste management equipment is an advantage.
- Experience with Diesel equipment is an advantage.
- Proven skills in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
- Able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Capable of performing physically demanding duties including heavy lifting, working underneath vehicles, working in cramped positions, and climbing on/off units.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with clean driver’s abstract.
