How you’ll succeed
Strategic Interpretation of Financial & Business Performance. Act as the COO's strategic lens on GAM's financial and business performance — translating financial data into actionable insights, strategic recommendations, and decisions that grow the business. Interpret trends in profitability, business mix, AUM dynamics, and revenue quality across distribution channels, identifying what is working, where headwinds are emerging, and where strategic intervention is needed. Pressure-test business performance against strategic objectives — surfacing implications for channel prioritization, pricing, resource allocation, and investment decisions. Use KPI and profitability insights to inform decisions on: Where to allocate capital and investment for highest strategic return, where to scale, reposition, or rationalize across platforms and segments, how to evolve business mix toward higher-quality, more durable revenue streams and which strategic initiatives and business cases to prioritize. Partner with Finance to define the KPIs and analytics that should anchor strategic decision-making — including AUM flows, fee realization, margin trends, productivity, client retention, and segment-level economics. Synthesize complex financial and operational data into clear, decision-oriented narratives for the COO and GAM leadership team. Lead business case development and strategic prioritization, applying financial rigor (revenue, IRR, NPV, payback) to evaluate opportunities and trade-offs.
Revenue Strategy & Pricing. Develop and shape revenue strategy across GAM, identifying opportunities to drive sustainable growth through pricing, product positioning, and platform optimization. Lead pricing strategy and fee architecture design, leveraging peer benchmarking, competitive analysis, and client value assessment to ensure GAM's offerings remain competitively positioned and aligned with client outcomes. Translate pricing analytics into strategic recommendations on fee structures, product packaging, and value proposition design. Partner with sales and distribution leadership on pipeline insights and the strategic prioritization of growth opportunities aligned with performance targets.
Client Strategy & Segmentation. Lead GAM's client segmentation framework across distribution channels. Develop a deep understanding of client needs, behaviors, decision criteria, and the competitive landscape to define target client profiles and shape the optimal service proposition for each segment. Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and enhance long-term client value through differentiated experiences, tailored solutions, and segment-specific go-to-market strategies. Monitor client-level KPIs (client value, loyalty, retention, share of relationship) across Canadian and U.S. businesses, translating insights into client strategy decisions. Inform pricing, packaging, and value proposition frameworks that drive growth, retention, and profitability across client segments.
Cross-Platform Strategy & Collaboration. Partner across GAM's distribution channels to shape strategy, optimize performance, and unlock growth: Retail: Support strategic planning and financial modeling for promotional strategy, multi-year planning, large-scale fund maturities, and the development of an integrated P&L view of the retail business. Online / Self-Directed Investing: Inform digital distribution strategy, leveraging digital analytics to enhance client engagement, conversion, and ROI across self-directed and digitally-led platforms. Private Wealth (Advisor-Led): Support advisor segmentation, productivity analysis, and platform strategy — identifying opportunities to deepen GAM's positioning and drive growth across advisor-led channels. Institutional: Inform revenue strategy, client-level KPI tracking, mandate structuring, and pricing decisions to optimize the long-term economics of the institutional business. U.S. Private Wealth: Enable client profiling, segmentation, and strategic KPI management in partnership with U.S. leadership and finance, strengthening North / South connectivity and integrated client strategy.
Operating Efficiency & Scalability. Help shape the strategic agenda for structural cost efficiency and operating leverage across the GAM platform as AUM scales. Identify opportunities to optimize vendor and third-party economics, rationalize suppliers, and improve unit-cost economics — partnering with Finance, Operations, and Procurement on execution. Translate efficiency data into strategic recommendations on operating model design, platform scalability, and resource allocation. Ensure cost and efficiency actions remain aligned with fiduciary obligations, regulatory expectations, and client outcomes.
Competitive Intelligence & Strategic Planning. Lead market and competitive intelligence to assess GAM's positioning relative to global and North American peers, identifying trends, opportunities, and threats shaping the asset management industry. Systematically analyze peer asset manager disclosures (earnings releases, annual reports, investor presentations, investor days, regulatory filings) to develop perspectives on peer strategy, operating models, cost initiatives, and growth vectors. Benchmark GAM's performance — growth, margin, flows, fee rates, productivity — against peers to sharpen strategic positioning. Track and interpret structural industry trends — including shifts in active vs. passive, ETF growth, alternatives, private markets, model portfolios, fee compression, and platform consolidation — and translate implications for GAM's strategy. Contribute to business plans, executive and Board presentations, multi-year operating plans, and corporate strategy materials — shaping narratives, ensuring analytical rigor, and translating complexity into crisp, decision-ready communication.
