Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) is seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) to join our team. This is a key role for a confident, autonomous clinician who brings advanced expertise in occupational health, strong professional judgement, and the ability to navigate complex clinical, legislative, and case management responsibilities in a fast-paced hospital environment.
To recognize the advanced practice capability required for this role, KHSC is offering a $10,000 signing bonus, which will be considered for candidates based on their level of relevant education and experience.
As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of KHSC staff. You will provide clinical expertise, consultation, and case management across a wide range of areas including workplace injury/illness, infection prevention, and fitness-for-work assessments.
Working independently and collaboratively, you will engage with internal stakeholders and external partners such as physicians and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
- Manage staff health concerns, including physical and mental health, workplace injuries, and fitness-for-work assessments
- Conduct assessments and provide guidance for work and non-work-related illness, injury, and exposures
- Lead disability management and accommodation planning, ensuring alignment with legislation, collective agreements, and KHSC policies
- Administer immunisations and occupational health surveillance programmes
- Provide education and promote healthy workplace initiatives
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation (e.g., WSIA, Human Rights Code) in clinical decision-making
- Maintain accurate documentation, policies, and occupational health records
- Diploma in Nursing (3-year Community College programme) or equivalent; BScN preferred
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Minimum 5 years progressive Occupational Health Nursing experience, preferably in a hospital setting
- Experience working in a unionised healthcare environment
- Post-graduate education in Occupational Health Nursing
- COHN-C designation (or equivalent combination of education/experience)
- Disability Management certification (CDMP, CRTWC, or equivalent) considered an asset
- Strong clinical judgement, autonomy, and ability to manage complex cases
- Proven ability to collaborate while confidently working independently
