Substance Use and Concurrent Disorders
This program provides inpatient and telemedicine services for individuals dealing with both substance use and mental health conditions (concurrent disorders). Services are tailored to each client’s goals and include self-referrals, making care more accessible.
Qualifications

Graduate of recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing;

Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Knowledge of CNO Standards regarding RPN scope of practice.

Understanding of MHA and relevant legislation.

CPR/AED Certification within the last 2 years.

Completion of Prevention of Violence in the Workplace training (C.P.I.) required.

Commitment to ongoing professional development

Technical skills such as glucometer reading, vital signs, injection skills, physical assessment/mental health assessment, catheterization, medication administration, O2 administration, basic wound care, suctioning, safe patient handling, bladder scanning, ECT recovery, skin care and feeding

Ability to develop therapeutic relations with patients

Ability to function as a member of the inter-disciplinary team

Basic computer skills required
Preferred:
-
Two years recent experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing
-
Knowledge and experience working with individuals with substance use disorders (identifying signs and symptoms of withdrawal or intoxication from substance use)

Experience facilitating groups
-
Experience working with patients with concurrent disorders
-
Current knowledge of mechanical lifts, transferring and positions techniques
English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
Salary Range:
37.24 to 39.02 per hour
