The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager supports the daily operation of the Club's food and beverage services by providing hands-on leadership, coaching team members, and delivering an exceptional member and guest experience. Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, this position helps ensure efficient operations, strong financial performance, and consistently high service standards throughout all food and beverage outlets and events.
Key Responsibilities
Member Experience
· Deliver exceptional service to members and guests.
· Resolve member concerns professionally and promptly.
· Build positive relationships with members while promoting a welcoming club atmosphere.
Leadership & Team Development
· Supervise daily front-of-house operations.
· Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback.
· Assist with recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management.
· Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities.
Operations
· Ensure service standards are consistently delivered across all dining outlets and Club events.
· Support the execution of tournaments, banquets, weddings, and special events.
· Ensure dining rooms, service stations, and storage areas remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
· Coordinate communication between the kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver efficient service.
Financial Accountability
· Complete daily cash reconciliations and operational reporting.
· Assist with inventory counts and purchasing controls.
· Monitor labour scheduling and productivity.
· Support departmental budget objectives through effective cost management.
Health & Safety
· Ensure compliance with FoodSafe, Serving It Right, and WorkSafeBC requirements.
· Promote safe work practices and maintain sanitation standards.
Decision-Making & Authority
· Lead front-of-house operations during assigned shifts.
· Resolve member concerns within established Club policies.
· Supervise, coach, and direct front-of-house team members.
· Escalate employee relations, budget exceptions, and policy issues to the Food & Beverage Manager.
· Act as Manager on Duty for Food & Beverage in the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager.

Qualifications
Required
· Minimum two years of supervisory experience in hospitality or food and beverage operations.
· FoodSafe Level 1 certification.
· Serving It Right certification.
· Experience with POS systems.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred
· Private club or golf club experience.
· Banquet and event experience.
· Hospitality diploma or related education.
· Experience with Jonas Club Management software.
Working Conditions
· Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to work indoors and outdoors during Club events.
