Position Overview:
As part of a team, the CNC Punch Press Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating machinery to punch material for the production of IT cabinets, racks, related products, and custom metal parts. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of light gauge precision metal fabrication, with the ability to work to extremely close tolerances.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC machines and other equipment used in the production process, or assist other machine operators as needed.
- Select appropriate punches based on material thickness and type.
- Set up tooling, load programs, and adjust machine parameters to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Inspect tools to ensure they are undamaged and in safe condition for use.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and quality regulations.
- Pay close attention to detail and focus on the task at hand.
- Collaborate with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Manually lift raw materials, finished products, and items packed for shipment (up to 60 pounds), or use a hoist for heavier loads.
- Uphold all R.F. Mote standards related to the responsibilities listed above.
- Consistently produce high-quality products that meet the dimensional specifications outlined in mechanical engineering drawings.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge and experience operating CNC punch presses (Strippit Global and Amada)
- Proven experience working to close tolerances
- Forklift operation experience is an asset
- Knowledge of additional metal fabrication processes, such as hardware insertion and shearing, is a plus
- Proficient in reading blueprints
- Skilled in using precision measuring tools (e.g., Vernier calipers, protractor, tape measure)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Solid understanding of light gauge fabrication techniques and equipment
- Previous experience with shearing operations
