Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Shunter to join our logistics team. The Shunter will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers and containers within the yard or warehouse. This role is crucial to maintaining smooth operations and ensuring timely freight handling. The ideal candidate will possess strong heavy equipment operation skills and a commitment to safety in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment, including forklifts, to maneuver trailers and containers within the yard.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment to ensure safety compliance.
- Assist in loading and unloading freight from trucks, ensuring proper handling of materials.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and report any discrepancies or issues.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize yard operations and improve efficiency.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while performing duties.
Experience
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, particularly with forklifts.
- Background in automotive repair is a plus, providing an understanding of vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures and logistics operations is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
