Wage: $25.00 per hour, dependent on education, licensing, and experience

About the Role:
The Advanced Security Guard position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of client properties, personnel, visitors, and assets through proactive patrols, advanced incident response, access control, and high-level customer service. Advanced Security Guards are expected to operate independently, exercise sound judgment in dynamic environments, and assist in mentoring and supporting junior team members. This role may involve assignments at commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, residential, construction, or high-profile client sites. The Advanced Security Guard must maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and operational readiness at all times. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, advanced problem solving abilities, and the ability to effectively respond to emergencies, critical incidents, and conflict situations while representing Signal Security of the Okanagan in a professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of all site post orders, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct proactive patrols of assigned properties and surrounding areas.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, and incidents as required.
- Complete detailed incident reports, daily activity reports, and patrol documentation accurately and within required timelines.
- Provide access control and enforce client policies and procedures.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with law enforcement, emergency responders, property management, and client representatives.
- De-escalate conflict situations professionally and safely.
- Operate company vehicles and mobile patrol technology systems safely and responsibly.
- Conduct welfare checks, lockups/unlocks, and alarm responses.
- Mentor and assist junior security staff when required.
- Maintain professional deportment, appearance, and adherence to uniform standards.
- Follow all Signal Security of the Okanagan policies, procedures, and chain of command.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding clients, operations, incidents, and internal procedures.
Education, Experience & Related Requirements
- Advanced Security Training (AST) certification;
- Basic Security Training (BST) Course;
- Valid British Columbia Security Worker’s License;
- Valid British Columbia Driver’s License (Class 4 or Class 5);
- Clean driver’s abstract (ICBC);
- Valid CPR & First Aid Level C (AED Certification);
- OFA Level 1, 2, or equivalent considered an asset;
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent considered an asset;
- Minimum 2–4 years of security, law enforcement, military, or related experience preferred;
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and adapt to rapidly changing environments;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; candidates may be requested to provide IELTS (or equivalent) results;
- Strong report writing and observational skills;
- High degree of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and customer service skills;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Comfortable working evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
This position may involve sitting, standing, walking, or driving for extended periods of time. Working conditions generally include 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts, including evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday assignments.
Employees may experience mental and physical stress and may be exposed to:
- Adverse weather conditions;
- High traffic or tenant volume;
- Emergency and alarm response situations;
- Medium to high threat environments;
- Aggressive or confrontational individuals;
- Limited availability of food and beverages;
- Interrupted breaks;
- Potential harassment while in uniform;
- Spontaneous shift extensions;
- Emergency situations requiring extended presence on-site

Wage: $25.00 per hour, dependent on education, licensing, and experience
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Full-time Hours: 32–40 hours per week
Part-time Hours: 8-24 hours per week
