Role Description The Butcher is a full-time, on-site role based at Karakoram Restaurant in Surrey, BC. This role is responsible for breaking down and cutting meat, poultry, and seafood according to restaurant specifications and menu requirements. Daily tasks include trimming, deboning, portioning, and packaging products, as well as maintaining proper labeling, storage, and rotation to ensure freshness and food safety. The Butcher works closely with kitchen staff to meet production needs, upholds cleanliness and sanitation standards in all preparation areas, and follows health and safety guidelines. The role may also involve occasional interaction with customers or front-of-house staff to support special orders or menu explanations.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in butchery and meat processing, including cutting, trimming, deboning, and portion control.
- Experience handling poultry and seafood, with knowledge of proper storage, hygiene, and safety practices.
- Ability to provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with guests or front-of-house teams.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and kitchen sanitation standards.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry meat products, and work in refrigerated environments.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and ability to follow established recipes, specifications, and procedures.
- Previous experience as a butcher or in a similar role in a restaurant, butcher shop, or food production environment preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Pay: $27.50-$31.00 per hour
