Community Support Worker
Abilities Community Services is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Community Support Workers to provide support to individuals with diverse abilities
This role is best suited to individuals who remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and are committed to providing person-centred, trauma-informed support. Staff must be able to respond appropriately to challenging behaviours while maintaining professional boundaries and ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved.
Schedule
Regular Part-Time Saturday & Sunday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m, 16 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support in accordance with the individual's support plans and goals.
- Assist with crisis prevention and intervention using approved strategies.
- Support the individual in achieving goals identified in their Person-Centred Plan.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to support planning.
- Prepare meals and assist with grocery shopping and household management.
- Assist with medication administration.
- Provide personal care as required.
- Transport the individual to appointments, activities, and community outings using employer-provided vehicles.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation.
- Perform household cleaning and other duties required to maintain a safe and supportive home environment.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Community Support Worker (CSW) Diploma or equivalent education and/or relevant experience.
- Current First Aid with CPR-C.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (or willingness to obtain).
- Food Safe Certificate.
- Current medical clearance, including a negative TB test.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
Compensation
- This position is unionized and covered by the CLS Collective Agreement
- Placement on the wage grid is based on applicable education and experience in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
- Current wage range: $25.95–$28.75 per hour.
