Our Role
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and skilled Senior Estimator responsible for completing high quality work within set timelines. This is a new opportunity to support our quickly growing business. Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the Senior Estimator is responsible for providing accurate and organized estimates while also meeting strict tender closing deadlines. This individual would be responsible for maintaining existing relationships with clients and developing opportunities with new clients and markets. They will take a project through tendering, negotiation, contract award and handover to the project management team. They will then consult the project management team through the duration of the project providing support with scope clarifications, budget and cost analysis.
Required Experience
3+ years experience as an estimator in the painting or related coating industry, with specific experience in pursuing, negotiating and closing contracts an advantage. Clear understanding of construction drawings and documents with experience preparing estimates. Fluency with estimating software (planswift, Togal) and Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities
- Prepare questions to help understand the scope of the tender and forward them to the contractor in a timely fashion for answers prior to the tender closing.
- Present an accurate and organized takeoff to the Estimators and be able to explain your reasoning for all of your quantities.
- Write up the estimate, clarifications, separate prices, and as required a scope and forward to the bidding contractors in a timely fashion.
- Allow sufficient time in completing an estimate to review for cost savings, loopholes, procedural changes and "out of the box" thinking that might provide better overall pricing in conjunction with unit rates.
- Create budgets, scopes of work and job set-up in preparation to hand over to project management and accounting.
- Consult the project management team through the duration of the project providing support with scope clarifications, budget and cost analysis.
- Perform job reviews on completed projects to understand job profitability and how to create stronger estimates.

- Strong computer skills with good understanding of Microsoft Office
- Experience using estimating software such as Togal or Planswift.
